Bonnie is a forty year member of NOW-NJ. From 1979 - 1981 she was President of Northern NJ (NNJ) NOW chapter, after being Secretary and then Co-Coordinator. From 1981 - 1983 she served as a delegate to the NOW-NJ Board. From 2011 through the present she has been President of NNJ NOW and a delegate to the NOW-NJ Board.
Bonnie has spoken on behalf of NNJ NOW and NOW-NJ on both radio and TV. In 2012 she served on the NOW NJ By-Laws Committee. She has served on the NOW NJ Health and Reproductive Justice Task Force since 2011. As President of NNJ NOW she has coordinated effort to win buffer zone for the Englewood Metropolitan Medical Associates Clinic. Bonnie is the Chair of 2014 NOW-NJ Conference Committee.
From 1981 - 2007 she was the paid Administrative Director of New Jersey Tenants Organization (handling press releases, minutes, lobbying, wrote /edited statewide newsletter, gave legal guidance to 1000s of tenants). From 1975 - 1981 she was the VP, Editor and Administrator of the 3,800 member Fort Lee Tenants Association. From 1975 – 1979 Bonnie served as the Secretary/Editor of the 800 member Linwood Park Tenants Association. In 1981 she was the Chair of the NNJ NOW Housing Task Force; which initiated and passed the original law (with specifically formed the coalition of NOW-NJ and NJTO) prohibiting discrimination in rental housing against source of income (alimony or welfare payments).
In 1976 Bonnie was declared autonomous in the NJ Appellate Court, after having her freedom of speech taken away because she was a married woman.
